Information and Details from past LibreOffice Conferences

Venue

The conference venue is located in the centre of Rome, just above Piazza Venezia (on the Capitol Hill, right from Piazza del Campidoglio), with metro access (Colosseo and Cavour, on metro Blue Line B). There are also several bus lines getting downhill from the venue, but their schedule is highly unpredictable. Clicking here will download the map in PDF format.

The red rectangles on the map show the location of the conference building, of Piazza Venezia (a spot which is featured in every guide of Rome, and can be used as a landmark for those who are not familiar with the city), of the two Metro stations (which are both at walking distance from the venue), and the areas of bus stops. Once you get to Capitol Hill, this is the map of conference rooms (clicking here will download the map in PDF format). Please do not use Piazza del Campidoglio 1 as conference venue address. Geographical coordinates of front entrance are: 41.892693 and 12.482827. Closest address to the back entrance is Via del Tempio di Giove 21 (you will see a LibreOffice sign on your left).

Rooms Map

Unfortunately, hotels at walking distance are extremely expensive (with the exception of small family run hotels close to the Cavour Metro station, which can be spotted on maps or on websites listing hotels). In Rome, there are many B&B of very high quality, which have usually a far better price/performance ratio than hotels.

Rome was built on seven hills, so please be aware that all historical buildings might be difficult to access for people with disabilities. All paths to the conference venue highlighted in red on the map include some stairs. There is also a street with restricted access leading to the conference venue, which can be accessed by private cars with a special permit or by taxis. We have added a specific field in the registration form, in order to help the organization to accommodate everyone.
