Pharmacists

The chemist's shop (in German: Apotheke) in the central station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof) is open 24/7, entrance at Europaplatz 1 (map).

For chemist's shops in other areas open outside normal working hours (in German: Notdienst), check the website of the Association of Registered Pharmacists.

Medical Expenses

As an EU citizen you are entitled to healthcare services if you fall ill on your travel. Make sure you have your European Health Insurance Card with you.

As a citizen of an other state make sure your health insurer provides you with adequate coverage for your stay in Germany. If your health insurance is not valid in Germany, then we urgently advise you to take out health coverage for the duration of your stay in Germany. If you need a visa for your trip, the health insurance policy must be accepted by the Schengen States.
